Counseling When and Where You Need It
I’m glad you found your way here.
So often we sit there and try to have our stuff pulled together before we talk to somebody. Truth is if we had our stuff together, we wouldn’t be looking for somebody to help us figure things out. Usually, we’re in a kind of rough spot and that’s what motivates us to contact someone. We need some help, some perspective. If you’re feeling like life’s a bit too much, or are looking to talk through some things with someone, you’re in the right place.
I’m a pretty casual therapist. I don’t consider myself an expert on your life- that’s your role in our partnership. My role is to use my knowledge to help you sort through what is going on in your life and in your head, figure out what’s working and what’s not.
Together, we’ll work through whatever’s on your mind, set goals, and figure out what steps will get you where you want to be. Working with your strengths, we will build on what is working (there are things working!), and develop skills and techniques to address what’s not working.
I will provide informed perspective and support, helping you heal what needs to be healed, build resilience, and develop skills for continued self-care (not mani/pedi and daily smoothie type of self-care, although that may be part of it for you).
I use techniques from various evidence-based practices that include looking at how your thinking is affecting your feelings and behaviors (CBT) clarifying the values that guide your choices (ACT), identifying the changes you want to make and increasing motivation for them (MET), and developing ways to slow down and be in the moment (Mindfulness).
I offer no magical solutions. Therapy works best when you are willing to be uncomfortable and work through that discomfort. Honestly, sometimes therapy sucks. You realize things aren’t the way you thought they were, and the “a-ha” moments can be rough. Working through those moments is rewarding and worth it. I will support you on that road.
With telehealth therapy, you can have your session from the comfort of your own home- no need to worry about travel times. Find a comfortable private spot, get a cup of coffee (or tea, or soda, or water) in your favorite mug, and let’s talk.
All you need is a device and a stable internet connection.
Casual Approach: Therapy doesn’t have to be formal. I believe in creating a space where you feel comfortable and heard.
Flexible Scheduling: Life gets busy—let’s find a time that works for you.
Expert Support: I’m trained and experienced, but I also believe in keeping things straightforward and relatable.
A good therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of success in therapy. If you would like to talk to see if we would be a good fit, please call 815-552-0226 for a free 15-minute consultation.
